Leakey VASE Art Exhibit

by Leakey ISD Webmaster

January 24, 2012

The art department at Leakey High School will be exhibiting the student's thirty-six entries in the administration building for the next two weeks. We only have six easels, so we will rotate the art work every two or three days. Leakey's art students have proved themselves once more how talented and creative they have become.

The students must learn to mat their own work for a grade. The students have completed and matted watercolors, linoleum block prints, photography- digitally enhance photos, pointillism renditions, batiks, abstracts, graphic design projects and wire art.

All thirty-six entries will be taken to San Antonio on February 11 for the Visual Scholastic Art Event. Each student will be interviewed by art instructors and graded on the interview and their actual art piece.

Please visit Leakey High School and view some of the art selections that will be going to the VASE event in February. I will have the students art work up until February 9th in the administration building. We have art students that are working on their Distinguished graduation plan, and this is one criteria that must be met, being interviewed by a professional panel and judged on their work.

I am proud to take each student and wish more could attend. This is an excellent educational event for any high school student.
