PRELUDE TO RED RIBBON WEEK
by Leakey ISD Webmaster
October 26, 2011
As a prelude to Red Ribbon week, which promotes a strong "Drug Free" message, the Elementary and Secondary students viewed Motivational Productions' videos on three large screens Friday, October 21st. Stand Together featured elementary students who had been bullied. Our students learned that we shouldn''t make others feel bad, and in order to stand up against bullies, we have to become friends and stand together. High school students watched Take Control. Actually, it was a good message for the adults also. We learned the importance of self-control and how to apply to our daily lives. For example, small decisions can turn into big consequences ,and we have to use self control in order to overcome circumstances rather than react impulsively and become a victim to them. The theme for the day was "Standing up to others who try to bully or harass individuals ,resisting peer pressure , and taking control of words and actions are a huge steps toward living a drug free life ".
